The Council Meeting scheduled for Monday, December 26, 2016 has been cancelled.  The next scheduled City Council Meeting will be Monday, January 9, 2017 at 7:30pm.

The 2017 Garbage / Recycle Calendar has been finalized.  Copies will be mailed out with the January water bill.

The City of Lexington is excited to announce the expansion of Christmas on the Prairie!

Activities begin at 9am and continue on into the evening hours.

At the Lexington Schools:
9am-2pm, Vendor event, shop from over 60 unique vendors
9am-11am, Free breakfast with Santa
9am-2pm, Children's Shopping ($5 and under)

Main Street Activities:
9am-7pm, Fine Art Display & Sale, Blacksmith Shop
11am-Close, Upper Tap's Festival of Barrel-Aged Beer
12pm-4pm, Pictures with Santa, Platform 322
12pm-7pm, Lexington's Festival of Trees, 316 W Main St.
2pm-7pm, Fresh Christmas Trees for sale, Devore, City Park

Light Up Lexington, the holiday house decorating contest also kicks off the evening of December 3rd.  Participant addresses will be distributed during the day and will also be posted online.

There is so much to do on December 3rd in Lexington!  It's sure to be an unforgettable event!

Trail Work Day Planned October 22nd

The Ollie and Dorothy Myers Trail Committee is a collaboration between the City of Lexington and the Lexington Park District.  It oversees maintenance and improvements to the Route 66 trail.  The trail is an asset to the community visited by Route 66 enthusiasts from all over the world.  It is also a great place to meet some friends and enjoy a walk or get some exercies.  There is approximately 2 miles of hot mix asphalt paving that makes a smooth surface on which to push a wheel chair, stroller, to ride roller blades or jog.  

The Trail Committee has scheduled a work day for this Saturday, October 22nd beginning at 9:00am.  They are looking for help to fertilize the trees, pick up some trash and transplant some small trees.  If you'd like to help beautify our community, bring your work gloves and meet us at the gravel parking lot behind the Freedom gas station.  A rain date is scheduled for October 29th.  We look forward to seeing you!
